STEP 1 – Go to Control Panel
1. First, open the Power Options under the Control panel and then click on it.
You can also directly search it from the Start Menu. Just click on the Windows Key, and type Control Panel.
STEP 2 – Choose Turn off Display Option
Choose the Option “Choose when to turn off the display” given on the left side of the Power Options window.
STEP 3 – Edit Plan Settings
Now, under the “Edit Plan Settings” option, you easily Customize the timer after which you want your computer to go into Sleep mode.
There are two types of timer present there i.e. one for the option “On battery” and the other for the option “Plugged in“.
Let’s suppose you have set 1 minute for “On battery” and 2 minutes for “Plugged in”. Then your computer will go into sleep mode after 1 minute if your computer is not plugged in with the charger and will go to sleep after 2 minutes if the computer is connected to the charger.

How to turn off the display?
You must have noticed that there is one option present in here and i.e. the Option to set the timer “Turn off the display” for your computer’s display to turn off. You can change the settings for this option the same way you changed the settings for the Sleep mode.
This option does not put your computer into sleep, it simply turns off the display to conserve power.
Is it better to put the computer in Sleep mode?
The amount of power used by a computer system generally depends on how you are using it and on which settings. The sleep mode generally uses just a few more watts than the hibernate option. Some people may opt to use sleep instead of hibernating so that their system will resume faster and they don’t have to start the system again.
While the sleep mode does use marginally more electricity, it’s surely more power-efficient than leaving a computer running 24/7.
